Long Time No Blog

Yep, after saying "I was back", I clearly became busy :) Busy with what you ask?  Well, I have a rowdy, talkative, playful, smart, funny, curious almost three year old who doesn't allow for much free time to blog.  I also have a husband who is as helpful as it gets, but even he needs a little attention now and then.  And to top it off...I have a full time job that wears me out!  Spring is the craziest time for me as a teacher, and when I get home I am exhausted.  So, there ya have it.  I didn't quit my blog.  I just eliminated things that make me slack in the mothering, wifery, and teacherness, and the blog got the chop!

Some things that the boo has done that did not get the praise and recognition they deserve:

  • NO MORE SAS YO!  Not at all something that I decided or something that Nolan decided.  It all happened upon mistake.  We were driving home from school one day in early May (maybe late April) and he threw it out the window.  I was going 80 mph down the interstate and there was no way I was going back to get it...despite all the screams and begs.  I told Nolan that a baby bird has his sas now which was great because he was a big boy and no longer needs it.   He seemed to buy it and that was it.  He asked for it a few times, but other than that he has done marvelous.  That will bring us to our next point.............

  • NOLAN TALKS LIKE A 5 YEAR OLD.   Now, we always knew he was "gifted" in the speech category, but it may have been a little hidden due to the sas. I give myself credit for that.  I never talked to him in that annoying baby voice or vocabulary.  He is a human parrot, so he talks like adults.  People in public stop me and congratulate me on a job well done because I have a 2 year old that knows how to answer in complete sentences and says please and thank you and yes sir and no sir.  That's my brag moment...deal :)

  • POTTY TRAINED.  Nolan has been in underwears (as he calls them) for months now.  I was dreading that whole situation, but it turned out to be much easier than I thought.  He got the pee thing down with only one accident or two.  The poop thing took a little longer.  He was scared to death of the poop in the potty.  It took weeks of enemas, prune juice, and fiber rich foods for him to get use to the idea.  Poor baby would hold it for almost two weeks some times.  We are finally past that hump, and I never want to revisit that again!

  • TIDE IS A NO NO.  We discovered that Nolan is allergic to TIDE.  For 99% of his life, I have used All Free and Clear.  He was eczema kid for a long while, so it just made sense to keep using it.  One day in April, I had a selfish moment.  I wanted to smell of Lavender and Vanilla like other people I know.  So, I bought some Tide.  I was not too concerned because I remember that I had bought some GreenWorks detergent not to long ago, and Nolan seemed to do just fine with that.  Well, 24 hours later we got the shock of a life time.  Nolan was covered in GIANT RED HIVES, but only where his clothes touched.  It was worse in tight areas like his waist line.  It didn't take a genius to figure out the problem.  So, I rewashed everything he owned (because I couldn't remember what I washed the first go around) and we have not seen a hive since ;)

Now that the summer is here, I plan to do a much better job at this blogging thing.  I did "plan" to do a much better job back in February as well.  We shall see how it goes :)
