Pickin' and Eatin'

Yep, that's my Boo picking strawberries for the very first time! We went to Cooper Creek Strawberry farm in Gallatin for his first pickin'! I can remember going to Portland when I was little to pick strawberries and wanted Nolan to have some of those same memories. He was so cute and took his job very seriously. He was instructed to only pick the "fire engine red ones" and he stuck to those rules :)
We took Elise along for the ride which was nice as there was no way baby James and his stroller were making it down that narrow path. We went early in the morning, but it got hot very quickly. Nolan and Elise filled up one bucket of plump fire engine red berries!

Being the mother of two that I am and knowing that Elise, Nolan and I suffer from drop in blood sugar craziness, I thought to bring a snack. Good thing because we were THIRSTY. Here is Nolan and his "berry hands"......
I sure hope James is going to be willing to be goofy with his mom and brother when he gets older. Otherwise he will spend many years being embarrassed by us :)

When we got home, we indulged in a little back yard picnic. Nolan gobbled down his berries in record timing. They were delish! I got some cute pictures of the boys during our picnic as well.
I think the picture above is funny. Nolan and James are making the exact same face :) A summer day full of berry picking and picnicking would not be complete with out some hope pipe fun! Elise is such the "fun aunt". I much prefer to sit in the shade and watch...hehe...

With our over abundance of strawberries, I thought it was the perfect night to make strawberry shortcakes. Nolan was THRILLED to push the small buggie. That is a huge reward in our house. That small buggie makes for a not so calm or pleasant grocery trip.

And because he is sweet like a strawberry itself....here is my sweet baby James :)
