Boom Boom Bust

A couple of days ago Nashville held the grand opening of the Music City Center.  I saw on the news that there would be fireworks, so I thought it would be fun to take the family!  Brad was a little less enthusiastic as he played in a golf tournament that afternoon and was...well...fried like a fish stick :)  We put PJs on the kids and loaded up.  We weren't exactly sure where they would shoot the fireworks off, so we settled on the pedestrian bridge.  You can see everything from that location.  Here are Nolan and James riding the "most roarsome" (that's from Boo's favorite show, Henry Hugglemonster, and his new favorite phrase) elevator ever!

What kid do you know that doesn't love a color changing elevator?  Once we reached the bridge, it was a waiting game.  Nolan passed some time by standing on as many of these "rocks" as he could.

And because a boy can't just stand and take a pic........................

I have a requested "jumping off the rock" pic here for you to see :)

As soon as we heard the fireworks, we jumped into ready mode.  We could hear all the loud bangs and booms, but couldn't really see anything.  We were a little confused.  Where the heck were the fireworks?  Well, turns out they were behind a smallish (compared to the other downtown buildings) office building.  See...................

Those were the only fireworks we could see. The rest of them were low and small.  I guess the Music City Center doesn't warrant the same type of firework show as the 4th of July :)  The highlight of our bridge experience was a General Jackson sighting.  Nolan was super excited to see it pass underneath us and to see it's cool "red spinning thing".

On our way home, we encountered a train.  Well, it was more like Brad saw it on the track and chased it down for Nolan to see.  Daddy is far more fun than I am.  He found some "ding ding gates" and let Nolan watch the train pass.  Then the most exciting thing that could ever happen rocked his world.  Another train came from the opposite direction.  Here it is.............

You have never seen two people of vastly different ages get so excited before in your life.  Jame and I didn't quite understand what was so cool, but judging by the look of amazement on this face we need to join the love of trains bandwagon..................

And then.....with the windows rolled down the second train blew his whistle.  We were all of 10 feet from tracks when he did so.  Never have I heard such a sound and apparently Boo was pretty rocked by it as well...............

While the fireworks may have been a bust, the trains made the 10 o'clock bedtime well worth the drive :)
