S-A-S

Couldn't decide which baby Nolan pic I loved more, so I put a few :) Today was a Booboo milestone. Here is a little back story. This week Mrs. Brandi decided that it was time to get rid of the sas. I am glad she started it because I am not sure when I would have. I give in...it's my mama flaw. He has done GREAT! For the past three days, he has not had his sas from the time he wakes up until the time he goes down at night. Napping without his sas is a HUGE deal! We will see if he will do it for us this weekend. He tends to do things for his teachers that he won't do for us...imagine that :)

I have been really trying not to say the word sas in front of him. Out of sight/sound...out of mind!! So, when Mrs. Kellye gave him his diaper bag today, I used the word "thingy". I said, "don't give him that because his thingy is in there!" She looked at me like I was crazy. So, I spelled "S-A-S". Just then, it hit me! It was the first time I have had to spell a word out so that Boo did not know what I was saying. I love these moments. His firsts. Of course, they made fun of my giddiness and the likely hood of it making it on this here blog. :) Boo is doing new things every day making life fun, exhausting and OHHH SO WORTH IT :)

V-S-D is G-O-N-E :)

As most of you know, Nolan was diagnose with ventricular septal defect...VSD...when he about 6 months old. You might remember this post:
http://erinbradnolan.blogspot.com/2010/02/vsdakahole-in-heart.html

That was the hardest parent day I have had in his 18 months of life. Talk about extreme emotions. I went from being beyond terrified to beyond elated that while he did have a defect it was common and likely to go away. This past year we have thought little about it. In fact, the only time I thought about it was at well/sick visits when Dr. Ladd would take a listen. So, when Wednesday came and it was time to go back to the cardiologist, I was slightly nervous for him, but in no way as nervous as the first time. When we drove up to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, the tears started. Not for Nolan, but for another family. At the entrance to the hospital, I noticed a family of 5 in a circle holding hands with their heads bowed. I quickly realized how lucky we had it. So many families experience far worse, and my heart swelled with emotion.

This appointment was much better than the first taking half the time. The EKG came back great, and Dr. Kausick was please. She said that she feels that the VSD has healed itself, but that she was not ready to release him from cardiology. Nolan was super congested the day of his appointment, and because of that she was having a hard time getting a clear listen to his heart. So, we will go back when he is three (I can't believe that one day he will be THREE) for a heart echo to really be sure that it is gone.

These pics were taken after his appointment. For some reason, he was in a solemn mood. He would not smile for my camera. I didn't care. While I LOVE my goofy...nerdy...energetic boy, I LOVE LOVE my soft...loving...sensitive baby :)

Love Monster

So oo funny how holidays are no longer about you and your spouse when you have a child. Even the day of love :) I spent quite a few man hours making a Valentine's Day mailbox for Nolan, and completely forgot about my man. On the big love day, I was less concerned about what Brad was going to do for me, and more concerned about making Nolan's day fun. So, when we got home from school and saw a big package at the door, I knew his day of love was going to get even better. Look what Grandma sent..............

Boo loves anything he can go in and out of, and a tent is perfect! This particular tent has an entrance that is a little shorter than he is, and he has not quite figured out the art of "ducking" :)

Here he is squatting down to talk to dad. Yes, his hair is in a pony tail...daycare teachers think they are funny :)

Looking like a GIANT BOOBOO!

When we had enough of the tent, we took a bath and decided to rip into his Monster box. I say "rip" in a sarcastic tone because that is what he did :)

See his cute little monster box. I didn't want his first Valentine's Day box to be a plain jane shoebox with stickers. So, I went to the mecca of crafts...Micheal's :)

Nolan with all of his loot.

Harper Jane's treat bag was a big hit

So, I let him open it. We found Rice Krispy Treats inside. As you can see, he was not a fan.

To much sugar????

Nothing warms my heart more than my two men having a good time. Who needs flowers, candy, and romantic dinners when you could have two of your favorite men, a goofy mom, and some kitchen floor fun? ;)

Sleddin' Machine

Seeing pictures of the white stuff Does not excite you...I know. At this point, it does not excite me either :) However, seeing my boo sled...for real...for the first time SHOULD EXCITE YOU :) Wednesday afternoon old man winter came back for a visit. This time he caused all kinds of issues. A VERY heavy snow fell right as rush hour began, and because it was SO VERY COLD outside it stuck immediatly. Nashville quickly turned into grid lock causing over 2,000 911 wreck related calls. Can you believe that??? After all the snow this season, Nashvillians still can not drive in the stuff. Poor Brad..I say that loosly because I told him to leave work sooner...was stuck in the grid lock for almost 4 hours :( So, needless to say he needed to have a little fun. The next morning when we woke up to 3 inches of snow I knew sledding would be on the menu. About a month back we bought some CHEAP $2 sleds from Target. Brad, Boo and I bundled up and headed outside.

Here is Nolan nice and toasty. I may have over done it with the layers, but you can never be too careful :)

His very first real sledding adventure down our not so very steep driveway. Needless to say they did not get very far.

So he tried it by himelf.........

but when you don't understand the concept of "holding on"...you slide right off :)

We got brave and walked up the street to the big hill on Kendall. Here are Brad and Nolan getting ready to do their thang.

Down they go :)

Once I saw Brad do it with out hurting himself or Nolan, I decided to give it a go. Next time, I will wear gloves.

Nolan and I started to walk home, but Brad wanted to sled one more time. Nolan was standing there calling "DA"!! "DA"!!

And then he started to get grumpy super quick.

He marched his liitle butt to the steps and said "Bye Ma" :)

When we got back inside we ate a little lunch, played a little computer and took a little...........

almost 4 hour nap. Wish we could go sledding a little more often :)
