Freeze Frame

I was hit in the face tonight by a ton of bricks. Every now and then I am reminded how fast this life is passing by. Before I became a mother, time passing did not hit me as hard. Everyone gets older...one more day gone is one more day closer to meeting our creator. Since we have been blessed with our sweet little man, the past 5 months have gone by faster than any period of my life. I get lost in the days with Nolan. The day to day routine we have in place is a well oiled machine.
Tonight as I rocked my sweetness, I noticed he needed a diaper change. Daddy offered, so I took advantage. I gave him the baby, and as I did this Nolan took his paci out of his mouth. He held that paci all the way to his room...staring at me the entire way. As if saying...look at me mommy I am all grown up!
It was then that I had to hold back every tear that was welling up in my eyes. Who was this baby that holds his paci for safe keeping? In that moment, he might as well have been a 5 year old holding his favorite toy. The saying "time flies" has been the biggest understatement lately. I don't want to miss one moment with my little guy. He is growing so fast...it is amazing. I am so grateful that I have a job that allows me to check in on him. I spend as much time with him as I can when I drop him off at his classroom in the morning, and check on him a few times a day....driving his teachers nuts :) Who would have thought that a simple little pacifier would make me cry???

Walkin' in a Winter Wonder Land

The forecasters got it right! Yesterday morning was the beginning of the blizzard of 2010. The snow started in Nashville bright and early around 9:30. Nolan and I braved the elements to take his nebulizer back to the doctor and to get some formula. When we left, the roads were clear, but as we returned back home the roads began to turn a lovely shade of WHITE!

Here we are home alone with no one to take our picture.

This is at 9:30ish on Friday

and this is at 5ish on Friday night! When it was all said and done, we ending up with almost 5 inches :)

Nolan and Mommy getting ready to go outside!

I thought polar bears were appropriate :)

Getting his snowsuit on. This was a gift from Grandmommy. I had no idea when he would ever wear this when she gave it to me, but kept it in the closet anyway. Who knew TN would end up with so much snow??

My boys:)

Burrrr it was cold outside!

Sitting in the snow. See my foot? Last night ice fell instead of snow, so everything was very crusty this morning. Nice for Nolan...his butt made a little hole for him to sit in :)

And then it was time to go back inside :)

Finally!!

He did it!!!! Earlier today, Nolan took a nap in his crib. I knew he was getting sleepy. Instead of rocking him, I just took him upstairs and put him in crib. I know you are not suppose to put pillows in the crib with him, but I think one of the reasons he won't sleep in there is because he feels insecure. He likes to be up against someone or something when he is sleeping. Don't worry...I checked on him every few minutes. He slept for over an hour!!!

I mean wouldn't you want to sleep here??? Monkey city! :)

On a side note...look what PawPaw made! He came to dinner this week and brought Nolan a "toy". A toy he can not play with! HAHA! He said he made it to be a keepsake and that he would buy him a train that he could play with :) Thanks PawPaw!!!

DRAMATIC!

No...no one took his favorite toy...no one took his bottle away...no one told him Eebee is gone forever. This awful, pitiful look is the result of daddy saying "hey buddy!". Yes, no joke. Everyday when Brad comes home, he looks at Nolan and says "hey buddy!" The usual response is the wide. smiley grin that I love soooo much. He acts like he has not seen his daddy in two weeks. Just about the cutest thing you have ever seen.
This morning, however, the "hey buddy" produced a different reaction. I was in the other room when I heard the most pitiful cry. Not his "hungry cry" or his "sleepy cry" or his "mad at the world cry"...it was a "you broke my heart into a million pieces cry". I saw this face and had to take a picture. You might be thinking that this was a one time event...nope. We did the "hey buddy" test, and got this result at least 7 times. I had to grab my camera and capture his sweet little face...ohhhhh don't you want to jump through that computer screen and eat him????????????????????

Poor Thing.......

My sweet baby is still sick. Went back to the doctor yesterday, and he has ANOTHER ear infection (second one in a month) and they are keeping him on his breathing treatment for the next few days. Tonight he fell asleep while taking his treatment. He is just so sweet...ohh how I love him. Soooo sorry hunny...you got your mama's lungs and your daddy's ears. If only it were the other way around :(

Tech Savy!

Judge me if you want...I don't care. My baby likes the computer! I recently found a website called KneeBouncers. It is for babies/toddlers. All they have to do is hit the keyboard and the program responds. Nolan loves the music one...just like is daddy!

Sick...again

Are we ever going to get well??? Is it true??? Are daycare kids really always sick?? Ohhhh goodness. Nolan has bronchiolitis...aka RSV...for the second time in a month and a half. I thought he just had a little cold and a ear infection. Brad took him to the doctor on Thursday...by himself...good job honey...and it turned into an hour long appointment! They had to clean his ears out because he had wax build up...thanks genetics...and he screamed bloody murder. So glad I was not there for this! After listening to his lungs, they determined he had bronchiolitis again. We go back on Tuesday for a follow up, and I have all kinds of questions to ask. First one being why does my kid keep getting this????????

Using our nebulizer...I am sure this will not be the last time :(

Daddy testing the waters :)

And this is how we get him to sit there without screaming bloody murder....Eebee always does the trick!!!

Ohhhh....and carrots were NOT a hit!

5 Months Old

Where has the time gone??? Nolan turned 5 months old yesterday. He is growing into a funny, demanding, loud and life loving baby...a good mix of mommy and daddy! We love our guy so much! This past month he has been:

~Wearing size 3 diapers
~still in 6 months, but just barely. 9 month jeans fit and everything else 9 months will probably fit next week :)
~NOT SLEEPING BY HIMSELF. Ohhh he loves his mama. He will sleep in his bed for about 30 minutes, wake up, pat back to sleep, wake up around midnight, get in bed with mommy, eat around 2, still sleep with mommy, and then he wakes up at 7 for daycare. Yes, I know this is all my fault.
~he started solids. So far we have eaten bananas(love them), peas (could live without them), sweet potatoes (better than peas), and pears (grunts after every bite)
~he loves loves loves Eebee
~he screams very loud. Not a cry just a yell...I guess he just wants us to know he is here.
~Flirts with just about everyone
~he is harder to take to church. With his new found voice, he is slightly disruptive. Not sure how I feel about dropping him off a church daycare...we will see.
~and most important...HE ROLLS OVER!!! YAY!!!

Ahhhh, Technology....

Pony Express...no thank you. I will take Skype any day. I know we are a little behind, but we have recently entered the world of video calling! And it is FREE..woop woop!! What a great way to stay in touch. No more sending emails, video and pictures. Now, we just it the "call button" and there they are...my two favorite ladies................

How cool!!! I can talk to my family in real time and see their faces! Warms my heart. I have lived apart from my family for almost 10 years, and this is by far the most amazing way to communicate. Of course they call mostly to see Nolan.........

This is Auntie Elise chatting with Nolan (see him in the bottom of the screen). And look!!!! There is Grandma in the background cooking dinner. I felt like I was in TX with them. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!

Come on already........

So, this is what my kid does now. He stands and waits patiently for his bathtub to fill up. Not quite 5 months and already standing with a little help! Must be those cankles :)

First Veggie: Peas

Nolan's first veggie went like I had anticipated. Let's just say he is not going to become a member of the "I LIKE PEAS" fan club :) I'll let the pictures do the talkin'!

This look is priceless! He is saying, "DO NOT PUT THAT IN MY MOUTH"!

I did anyway. Not exactly a yummmm face.

And then there is this one. I thought mixing it with some cereal would make it better. I guessed wrong :)

He could barely swallow. He gagged and make this awful face. He is a bit dramatic. Runs in the family.

So, after three bites we gave up. We will try again today. But for now....bananas are still a big hit! He will open his mouth and move his head toward the spoon :)

And again!

You gotta be quick or he will grab the spoon from you and do it himself :) Gets that from his mother!

Peas? What Peas?

First Snow

Nolan got his first snow day today! Middle Tennessee was hit by a tremendous blizzard this morning...it snowed a whole 1/10 of an inch! HAHAHA! Gotta love living in the south!

I wanted to get a picture of Nolan in the snow, but it was just too cold to take him out. So, instead daddy stood on the balcony and I snapped a quick picture :)

4 Month Shots

Well, he is still big! Nolan went to the doctor today to get his 4 month old shots...even though he is less than two weeks away from being 5 months :) He did wonderfully! We got the go ahead to start solids (actually started last week) and received some help with controlling his eczema. Dr. Ladd straight told me my kid was spoiled when it comes to the whole not sleeping in his crib thing. He did not tell me anything I didn't already know! Some might have been offended by a blunt comment like that, but I figure if you can dish it you gotta take it! :)

Nolan is 18 pounds 14.5 ounces (95%) and 26 1/2 inches long (85 %)

Two shots on this leg

Two shots on this leg

And a sticker for being so good!

Shots did not keep him from watching Eebee

And they did not keep him from being a goober!

They must have tuckered him out to be able to sleep like this!

BURRRRR!!!

Thank you Grandma for my fuzzy sleepers! I am really going to need them this week because the high temperature is not suppose to get above 30 degrees! They will keep me nice and toasty. Here is a picture of me in my moose outfit! Love, Nolan

Remember this??????????????????

I think he has grown a bit....don't you??

And here we are giving the "are you really going to take my picture in the laundry basket" look!
